The short version: ForgeNX runs on your own machine, and what it knows about your mining stays there. The phone app collects nothing and talks only to your own machine. When ForgeNX is first set up it registers once, sending a few facts about the machine (no names, addresses or wallet details). This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers.
Who we are
ForgeNX is a registered business name in Australia. In this policy "we" means ForgeNX. You can reach us at support@forgenx.io.
This policy covers the ForgeNX operating system ("ForgeNX"), the apps in the ForgeNX App Store, the ForgeNX phone app, and this website, forgenx.io.
ForgeNX, on your machine
ForgeNX runs on a computer you own, on your own network. Your settings, payout addresses, miners, shares, blocks, notification settings and logs are kept on that machine. We can't see them.
To do its job, ForgeNX connects to other services. Here's each one, and what it sends.
Registration, once
When ForgeNX is set up and you accept its terms, it registers once with our registration service, which gives it an installation ID (shown in ForgeNX under System). It sends:
- the ForgeNX version, the operating system's version, and the machine's architecture;
- the processor's model and number of cores, and the total memory.
From then on, each time an app from the ForgeNX App Store is installed, ForgeNX sends that app's name and version with the installation ID. Nothing is sent about apps from other stores.
The registration service records the country the request came from, worked out from its internet address, but doesn't keep the address with the registration. No names, email addresses, wallet or payout addresses, or details of your miners are sent. We use this to understand how many machines run ForgeNX, on what hardware, and which apps are used. The service runs on Cloudflare.
Updates and apps
ForgeNX checks for and downloads its own updates and the apps you install from GitHub and from container registries (GitHub Container Registry and Docker Hub), and keeps the operating system up to date from its package repositories. As with any download, these services see your machine's internet address.
Prices and estimates
To show what your hashrate could earn, the ForgeNX Engine fetches coin prices and exchange rates from CoinGecko, CoinPaprika and Frankfurter, and, for a coin whose node isn't running yet, its network figures from WhatToMine, WhatsOnChain or that coin's public explorer. Nothing about you or your machine is sent, beyond what any web request carries.
The coins' own networks
Each coin app runs that coin's full node, which connects to the coin's peer-to-peer network to share blocks and transactions, as every node does. Other nodes see your internet address. A block your miners find is published to that coin's blockchain, which is public, along with the payout address it pays.
Notifications you set up
If you turn on notifications, ForgeNX sends them itself, straight to the services you choose: Telegram, ntfy, a webhook (such as Discord or Slack), your own email server, or the ForgeNX phone app (see below). The text of each alert, such as which miner went offline or which block was found, goes to that service. ForgeNX doesn't send notifications through any server of ours.
Remote access you set up
If you set up Cloudflare Tunnel or Tailscale to reach your machine from elsewhere, your connections go through that service, under its own privacy policy.
Apps from the ForgeNX App Store
Some apps contact the services they're built for. For example, Node Watch checks the projects' own release pages (such as GitHub) for new versions of the software your nodes run.
The ForgeNX phone app
- No account, no analytics, no ads. The app collects nothing about you and sends nothing to us.
- It talks only to your own machine: on your network, or through your own Cloudflare Tunnel or Tailscale.
- Pairing. You pair the app by scanning a code shown in ForgeNX. The camera is used only to read that code; nothing it sees is kept or sent. The key the app is given is kept in your phone's secure storage. Your machine keeps a fingerprint (hash) of the key, the phone's name, when it was paired and last seen, and how it connected. Removing the phone in ForgeNX stops it at once.
- Alerts. If you switch alerts on, the app gets a push token from Expo, the service it's built with, and gives it to your machine only. Your machine sends each alert to Expo's push service, which delivers it through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or Apple's Push Notification service (iPhone). The alert's text passes through those services to reach your phone. Switching alerts off, or removing the phone, deletes the token from your machine.
- Mesh control. The app can only read, unless you switch Mesh control on for that phone in ForgeNX. Then it can also move your miners on the Mesh, and your machine lists each change with the phone's name.
This website
forgenx.io sets no cookies and uses no analytics, trackers or advertising. Its fonts and images are served from this site. It's hosted on Cloudflare, which handles connection details (such as internet addresses) to deliver and protect the site, under its own privacy policy.
If you email us, we use your email to answer you, and keep it as long as we need to help you.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent or trade information about you or your machine.
- We don't use it for advertising, or build profiles of you.
- We share the registration information with no one, except the providers it runs on (Cloudflare), or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep registrations while ForgeNX is supported, so we can count machines and apps over time, and delete one when you ask. We keep support emails as long as we need them to help you.
Your choices
- To see or delete your machine's registration, email us its installation ID (in ForgeNX under System).
- To stop ForgeNX contacting a service, don't use the feature that needs it: notifications, remote access and the phone app are all off until you turn them on.
- If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. In Australia you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Children
ForgeNX and the ForgeNX app are made for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
